Prof. Dr. Serkan TORUN

Vice Rector

Prof. Dr. Serkan TORUN was born in Yusufeli district of Artvin in 1976. He completed his primary, secondary, and high school education in Kırıkkale. In 1999, he completed his medical education at Karadeniz Technical University Faculty of Medicine, in 2007 he completed his speciality in medicine at Uludag University Department of Internal Medicine, and in 2014 he completed his sub-speciality in medicine at Turkey High Specialised Training and Research Hospital in Gastroenterology Department.

He completed his compulsory service as a General Practitioner at Sakarya Küçücek Health Centre between 1999 and 2002, as a Medical Ensign at Hakkari Mountain Commando Brigade Mobile Surgical Hospital between 2007 and 2008, as an Internal Medicine Specialist at Çorum Kargı State Hospital between  2008 and 2010, and as a Gastroenterology Specialist at Bartın State Hospital between  2014 and 2017.

Since 2017, he has been working at Düzce University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology Department. From 2022 December to 2023 September, he worked as Chief Physician at Düzce University Faculty of Medicine Hospital. Since 2023 September, he has been working as the Dean of  Düzce University Faculty of Medicine.

Prof. Dr. Serkan Torun, who is the Head of the Gastroenterology Department, Head of the Internal Medicine Department, Member of the Board of Directors of the Faculty of Medicine, Chief Physician, and Dean, has the Scientific Publications and Project Development Incentive Award.

Prof. Dr. Serkan Torun has 80 articles in national and international journals, more than 1000 citations, and many papers presented at scientific meetings.

Prof. Dr. Serkan Torun is married and has three children.
